Jewish Dating Website Lets Parents Do The Choosing
Parental discretion is advised was the thought that came to mind today when I heard about a new Jewish dating site named TheJMom that offers the service of letting the parents choose who their kids can date. I also thought it was interesting considering I just recently wrote some of my views on dating sites being akin to arranged marriages. How interesting is that?
Anyways. I don’t mind the idea. I think having the parents get involved in the dating process of a teenager is a great thing. Parent do have a lot more experience when it comes to dating and why not let them have their say or express their opinion on the matter of love, decent behaviour, good goals and respect for one another?
As stated by TheJMom
The goal of the site is to create a network of Jewish parents across the country who share a passion for finding their sons and/or daughters love. Members can browse prospective partners by city, email other parents for more information and take the initiative to set up dates. As a limited-time launch offer, from now until January 1, 2011, new members can receive free one year access. Moms – and their sons and/or daughters – can explore the site for free while home for the holidays and start 2011 off with a promising new dating scene.
The other matter that’s interesting about this Jewish dating site is that they’re bring back to life the idea that dating and relationships are OK, healthy and normal. The TheJMom opens the eyes of the member to the realization that it’s OK to go to your parents and ask them questions about dating and relationships. In the end, TheJMom actually helps build relationships, not only between the site member and their parents but also between the parents and the candidate for their child’s love and devotion.
I like the idea of TheJMom but my question is will another dating industry guru come out with a “Parental Discretion Is Advised” kind of dating site that’s not only directed towards a particular race but instead will target the broader market? I guess we’ll have to see.
