Alright, I know I mentioned video dating elsewhere but I thought I’d post this at our official blog - if that even exists. Yes, FreeDateClub’s done video - that’s right, we’ve now turned our site into a video profile dating site - why not?
At first we thought about launching a new domain - we were actually going to do this on our sister dating site crushmore.com but realized not too long ago that using our existing site with an established member-base would be a great idea too! So we went with that. For now crushmore can wait.
We also wondered about completely removing picture profiles from the site but decided that would be too much for our members. Not everyone is up to publishing a video profile and not everyone has the time to do it either. So as it stands and probably for as long as FreeDateClub.com exists, our members will be able to add both picture and video profiles - even though video profiles are better. Crushmore.com may be a great candiate for an “only video” profile dating site in the future. We’ll see. Maybe we should launch an only video profile dating site before someone else does but to be honest with you, at this point we don’t even care. Go for it!

Well, we’re getting a lot of play here on the site lately, a lot of subscribers signing up so we’d like to thank you. Message me if you’d like to post your profile and maybe some articles. But anyways, I’m here to make a correction in my last post where I mentioned that I tried to find other video profile dating sites. There are others!
That’s not all either, in my first post about video profile dating sites, I said that we’re the first - well we’re not. There are actually quite a few other dating sites out there that offer video profiles but I swear I couldn’t find one. Imagine that.
So you’ll have to forgive me but in the mean time know this: I shall be going through quite a few of these sites to see if they do indeed offer video profile features. I’m not convinced. I have to see this for myself and when I gather my information, I’ll post it here for you.
Why? There are a lot of dating sites and companies on the web offering all types of services and features related to dating but when the user signs up, well, they’re in for a surprise.

Yes, I did, and to no avail. I noticed that as soon as we launched that we’re going to be offering video profiles to our members, a few more dating sites showed up offering the same service - the only thing is they just said they do but actually don’t.
We said, no more pictures, just video profiles and found that for search on those terms there actually are a few websites that do offer video profiles but when you land on their site, there isn’t one feature at all that permits the attachment of a video - how tricky is that?
Try it out yourself. Do a search or try to find a website that truly offers the ability for users to upload and attach dating site video profiles and if you do find one, well, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
Now, we’ve been planning our video profile dating site feature for quite some time - almost 3 years but I guess in the mean time other people decided they would start offering the feature too. The only problem is, you can do a simple search for video profile dating and check out the results.
The results you will see are interesting. Yes it actually looks as if these dating sites do indeed offer video dating profiles but once you look around or register and sign up, there’s nothing. How cliche!
For instance, there’s a pretty lengthy article I found entitled “Target Your Date With a Great Video Profile”. Go ahead, search for it yourself. Sure you’ll be able to read about all the advantages of video profiles but is there anywhere to sign up? No!
It sure looks like it. Again, with a search on Google for “dating site video profiles” you’ll find another site discussing the ‘top 5 worst video profiles” but will you actually find a dating site offering the feature? No!
So what’s the problem?
It seems there are a lot of sites that want to offer the feature but haven’t got around to doing it yet, but still like to advertise that they do. But we’re not buying it.
Our motto: say what you mean and mean what you say. If you’re a dating site that offers video profiles you better be producing what you say you do!
Well it’s here and it was promised for a long time. We kept it quite for quite a while but video profile dating sites are finally here - yes the next generation in online dating.
So what’s the scoop about video profiles on dating site? Well there’s tons. For starters, it’s amazing that there are truly no other dating sites on the Internet that offer video profiles. How not? Who dropped the ball on this one?
With just a few moments contemplation, anyone can see the benefits on video profiles over regular picture profiles. With picture profiles you’re doing nothing but guess - even if you’ve messaged the dating site member back and forth for a few days or weeks, you’re still guessing. But with dating video profiles it’s the complete opposite.
There’s about two major factors that come into play in the differences between regular profiles and dating site profiles. With dating site profiles you take away 90% of the guess work. You don’t have to read a whole profile that could be full of lies and you can almost tell right away if there’s going to be chemistry. For the on-the-go person, this kind of swift decision making is always important.
But wait there’s more! With a video profile, you can express yourself much more than you ever could by writing out a text profile. Compared to video profiles, text based profiles offer nothing but dry copy - the same old same old - and you get no real idea of who you’re talking to.
When I was on dating sites, (I always preferred free dating over paid dating sites) I understood the importance of profile views. Who wants to stay on a dating site for the rest of their lives? Not me! I put up the best picture I could with a decent headline and hoped for the best. But that’s about to change. With dating video profiles, if you’ve got your part played right, you should be getting much more contact requests and messages than ever before. Why? Cause video profiles are interesting.

Oh yes it has. There’s been quite a lot of play since the last time I blogged about free dating sites and I’ve fallen behind a bit. But I want you to know, I’ll be dedicating more time over the next few months to updating you with some of the dating industry news that’s been happening since my absence.
For one, KissCafe took a dive for a few months. They were completely removed from the search results for a little over 4 months - even five. Then suddenly out of the blue, for certain searches they started showing up again - again with a new title and a new site. It looks like KissCafe is going releasing a Dating 2.0 version of their website - neat!
Then there was the old PlentyOfFish but this time it wasn’t much of a feature change but it was a complete website over-haul - seriously - it looks like this is one of POF’s biggest template changes ever. Your main functions and features are the same but if you take a look around the site you’ll see Markus’ programmer really needs to freshen up his CSS skills - but that’s besides the point.
Oh, and to boot, there’s another free dating site on the block and it’s name is Ocean’s of People - as a matter of fact I’m actually going to try it out and come back to you with some of my findings. So far I think POF’s got the best interface but you never know, OceansOfPeople could be a good dating site but my question is, do I have to pay at all? It kind of looks like a template/affiliate dating site - we shall see.
Lastly, we’re back to free communication dating or free communication weekends - either or - I need to check out what eHarmony are saying these says - have they turned into a free dating site yet? I really wonder and I’ll post back with my research and results.

Well, POF has done it again, they’ve changed up their very simple and successful dating site system by removing the ability to see if someone’s read your messages unless you pay a small fee for it, literally pennies.
The benefits?
Well from a user perspective it’s simple: peace of mind. From a privacy issue, well the same thing: peace of mind and I think the privacy issue trumps everything because prior to this change a user could determine if someone had open their message thus putting pressure on the recipient to respond. That needed to change. Now a person can open a message from any member of their dating site knowing that their privacy hasn’t been violated, that they won’t receive a hate message asking them “why haven’t you responded?”.
From what I’ve gathered many single woman on free dating sites have to deal with angry messages all the time. Now the guy has to take a pill, chill and hope she responds. Why? Because if he over reacts and she truly hasn’t read the message yet, he’ll be out of luck and looking for a paddle.
So enjoy the new sent messaging system on POF and feel free to ignore that email from the guy with his shirt off!
Well, the paid dating site did it again, they are offering another 7 days in January for free dating. Not only that but they blew my prediction out of the water (or I wasn’t paying attention). I posted in my article about eHarmony being a free dating site that they would offer a whole month of free communication dating in December. Well that didn’t happen but they’re doing it again and this time I”m keeping a close eye on them.
Why? Because I want to calculate exactly how many days in January they will offer as free communication dating. So far approximately 25% of the month they are free. If they tack on 3 days extra for free communication on each weekend, that would be approximately 51% free. In the end, we could safely declare that eHarmony is no longer a paid dating site, but instead more free. Even plenty of fish allows you to pay for some premiere services and they’re still and always will be - free.

You literally can find millions of websites popping up that are offering free communication dating, there is no doubt. It’s quite clear; free communication weekend dating is virtually taking over the online dating world. Think about it. With the thousands of free communication dating websites out on the internet what are the odds that paid dating sites are the only sites that have decent members? Have you heard of a thing most of us hate called spam? Well it’s not only the information you get in your inbox. Spam can also be found online in the form of promotional articles. Don’t get me wrong, not all online dating marketers take this approach - you can find thousands upon thousands of true and genuine articles related to dating, relationships or the online dating industry in general. But don’t be fooled, there are umpteen more millions of other articles that so-called SEO or online marketers write in order to do two things: build back-links to their dating website or to write meaningless content in the hopes that someone will click on an ad. How irritating.
Why is spammy nonsensical information about online dating it irritating? Because they are manipulative, deceitful, full of lies and fallacies and aren’t being forthwith in regard to the article writers full intentions. In other words the information you’re stumbling across is completely useless.
Here are a list of titles of online dating articles that any particular single surfer could stumble across and waste precious time with. By the titles alone you’ll be able to understand where I am coming from

Are you serious? The problem here is that most true blue and seasoned online dating article writers can see though these titles but the young and naive, the inexperienced surfer ends up waisting valuable time on these sites and a percentage of the time click on ads.
The moral of the story? There isn’t one. Just me venting. Eventually we’ll be able to rid the Internet of spam and until then…
Parental discretion is advised was the thought that came to mind today when I heard about a new Jewish dating site named TheJMom that offers the service of letting the parents choose who their kids can date. I also thought it was interesting considering I just recently wrote some of my views on dating sites being akin to arranged marriages. How interesting is that?
Anyways. I don’t mind the idea. I think having the parents get involved in the dating process of a teenager is a great thing. Parent do have a lot more experience when it comes to dating and why not let them have their say or express their opinion on the matter of love, decent behaviour, good goals and respect for one another?

In the end, TheJMom actually helps build relationships, not only between the site member and their parents but also between the parents and the candidate for their child’s love and devotion.
I like the idea of TheJMom but my question is will another dating industry guru come out with a “Parental Discretion Is Advised” kind of dating site that’s not only directed towards a particular race but instead will target the broader market? I guess we’ll have to see.
